The Truck Series makes its return to racing this week Friday night to kick off 3 straight days of racing at Kansas. This is also the final race of the first round of their playoffs, after the race the field will be cut down to just 8 drivers heading to Bristol next week. The two drivers sitting below the cut line are fan favorite Carson Hocevar, looking for his first win after coming so close so many times this season, and Christian Eckes, another driver that has come so close yet so far from a win this year. Sitting just 3 points above the cut line is a proven driver in the series, Ben Rhodes. Rhodes is the only driver, barring a nightmare from Stewart Friesen (+31), or a win from one of the drivers below, that is in a real spot to fall out of these playoffs early.
Hocevar has found his stride very early in his career and has shown that he can hang with the best and on his day is a serious contender to win. With him being 3 points back a win is not a necessity but there is no doubt that Rhodes and Eckes are both going to be driving up towards the front and doing anything they can to win.
Friday is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Truck races we have seen in a long time and the drivers that are going to be in a bloodbath to get their way into the next round are only going to make it better.
