Alex Bowman got off to a slow start to the 2021 season and was involved in many incidents and unlucky situations. He was set to be the “baby” car at HMS and was a driver that everyone counted out and thought would be the worst driver on the team. Bowman has been driving from the middle of the pack all season and would run some good races but turned his season around at Richmond.
All race at Richmond Alex Bowman was creeping around the top 5-7 spots and on a late race restart Bowman jumped past the 11 car and ran away with the race. This past weekend at Dover we saw absolute dominance from the HMS team and mainly the driver of the #5 team, Kyle Larson. Larson was out in front all race long until a late race pitstop from the #48 team that turned out to be the fastest pit stop in the 2021 NASCAR season so far that was in the low 12 seconds.
Bowman got the track position and held off Larson on the restart and drove away with the win to snag his second win of the season and shooting himself up the playoff standings as we enter the mid season push for playoff spots. Bowman is now blossoming as one of the better drivers at HMS and is looking to show his worth and that he can hang with the best going forward.
